Butterfly effect?
Sorry for the disappearance! I've been busy with school. My class for summer session just ended this past Thursday, and now I'm back for fall. I had a great three days of summer vacation, though! :)
CowlickCutie on Etsy featured a Jecka headband in her ridiculously beautiful treasury the other day.. and it made it to the front page today!
And let's just say this particular incident may have opened up a great opportunity for me. :)

Finally!
Alright, here are some pictures from my family trip to the Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. Oddly enough, my family didn't take any pictures in front of any of the giant trees.
Finals are over and I'm free!...
...for a week. I'm taking 2D design and cultural geography over summer session to try and catch up with my GEs. Soo goodbye, sweet summer. Hello, school.
In the time that I do have I'm trying to build up inventory for the upcoming Red Rabbit Arts & Crafts Festival next month. So far I haven't done much except make about 40 pairs of earrings. BUT I've also come up with a new product, my Swept Away Beanie:
I'm so excited, this is going to be my first craft show. I really hope school isn't too overwhelming so I can have everything prepared ahead of time. The show is on Sunday, July 19 at the LA Arboretum in Pasadena. For more information visit Red Rabbit Workshop.
'Til next time!

"I'LL TEACH YOU TO LAUGH AT SOMETHING THAT'S FUNNY."
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! As for me, I took a trip to the Sequoias and Yosemite with my family. It's really nice getting out in the middle of nature, even if you're limited to walking on paved paths because you have to push around a stroller with a 3-year-old in it.
I'm still amazed at the size of the sequoias. According to one of the signs in front of General Sherman (the largest tree, or should I say living thing, on the planet in terms of volume), looking up at a sequoia is like a mouse looking up at one of us. And the biggest branch on General Sherman is 6 feet in diameter. That's like a whole 'nother tree!
Next post will be a buttload of pictures from the trip. I just have to upload them.
In other news, Timmy took some great pictures of the headbands for me, getting some pool action.

Chef Boyardee over a hot fire
Yesterday I spent a few hours making a bunch of earrings while watching The Simpsons and Family Guy on hulu. I love hulu, so convenient. I also love being able to call creating things "work." Anyway, here are some pictures:
My reward for working yesterday was a trip to the beach with Erika, Jade, and Jose in celebration of Jade's 20th birthday. That had to be one of the best beach days (or should I say nights?) on my list of beach days.
We had dinner consisting of a mix of Chef Boyardee's spaghetti & meatballs, ravioli, and beefaroni. I've got to say, it tastes so much better and is much more satisfying when you dig your own fire pit, start your own fire, and cook it over said fire, as opposed to nuking it in the microwave.
We ended the night by running in the middle of the 405 freeway. I will omit details to keep it edgy.

What a pleasant surprise!
So I checked my hearts on Craft Cult this morning: 20 hearts.
I go out to buy more supplies and on my way back Adam texts me telling me I got so many hearts these past couple days. He said I have 38 now. "38?!" I thought. At first I thought maybe he meant to say 28, but even then that'd be a lot for just an hour. I haven't even relisted or anything today, or even yesterday.
So I get home and check Craft Cult again, and indeed, I did get 18 new hearts in the hour I was gone. I check Etsy, and I have a message from Tina telling me I made it to the front page of Etsy!
THAT EXPLAINS IT.
& I MISSED IT. But at least I get to put that front page button in my listing. :)

ETA: I didn't realize Craft Cult had Etsy's front page treasuries archived! Here's what appeared on the front page:

free!
..form, that is. I've been experimenting with freeform crochet, and I've got to say, it's so much fun, and relaxing, too! Not having to worry about counting and making sure you have the right amount of stitches makes crocheting even more enjoyable. You get to just go with the flow. I love going with the flow.
The one on the left reminds me of an octopus.
I think this could be a great way to dip my feet into jewelry making, which I've been wanting to try for a while.
Hmm, I guess I'll see where this takes me. :)

Don't you just love weddings?
My legs are sore, and it is very unpleasant. However, I loved the process of making my legs sore by dancing and jumping around at the reception with my family.
The song that got me up to dance: Macarena.
Obligatory money dance with the groom, my uncle.
I pretty much don't know anyone to my right in this picture.
Anyway, came home today and listed a new color in my shop: EGGPLANT!
I've never tasted eggplant, but they make great headbands!

Introduction
I guess I should introduce myself, shouldn't I?
I'm Jessica. Since introducing myself often causes me a bit of anxiety, I'm going to plug in bits from a Facebook note I'm sure many of you have been "tagged" with before: 25 Facts About Me.
1. I have three pet rats, Charlie, Mochi and Wiggles. They're like little dogs. (Since then I have added four more to my little rat family: Moth, Athena, Tulong, and Ovaltine)
3. I used to love designing clothes and sewing, but now I can't be bothered to even take out my machine.
4. I've been in a relationship with Adam for 4 years. We're just getting started. :)
6. I'm a very messy person, but I pay great attention to detail when I work on things.
9. I don't drink soda. I prefer juice, water, or milk.
11. Snowboarding is probably the only sport I'd really enjoy doing.
12. I have a really long, sharp tooth. I'll bite your head off.
13. I tend to bump into things while parking.
14. I believe my parents are the best parents.
15. I HATE roaches. They serve no real purpose here on Earth and must be exterminated immediately.
20. I don't feel like I need to be doing anything extraordinary to live a fulfilling life.
21. I had an Easy Bake Oven and a Creepy Crawlers Oven when I was a kid.
22. I've played Pokemon from the Red and Blue times to the Pearl and Diamond times. And if they're not done, I'm not done.
23. I was almost born in a toilet.
25. I want to live in a completely different city or country, but I don't want to leave anyone behind.
I've been crocheting for I don't know how many years, but I remember first being introduced to it by my mom when I was just a kid. I would crochet on and off over the years, starting projects and never finishing them (now doesn't that sound familiar?). Now I'm doing it everyday and loving it. :D
I sell crocheted ear flap headbands in my Etsy shop. I have to fully credit the idea to my super cool and hip dad. He asked me one day to make him an "ear flap hat without the top." And that's where it all began.
Since then I've experimented with the idea and different designs, and still am experimenting. Expect to see more from me in the near future!

Shouldn't have eaten that banana bread.
It's 5:13PM. I've been in the library for about an hour now, and I've got an hour more before my 3 hour class starts. I had spaghetti with Adam about 2 hours ago. He saved some banana bread for me that his mom made and I was going to save it for when I felt the onset of starvation, usually about 1 1/2 hours into class.
I couldn't resist. It was just too tempting.
And now I'll have to pay in about 2 1/2 hours.
